Dr. Schultebraucks is planned as Mercator fellow in the DFG-funded GRK 2350 on the impact of early trauma on psychosocial and somatic health. She uses machine learning for the identification of early risk factors and the prediction of long-term mental problems (e.g. PTSD symptoms). She has also investigated alternative methods for psychiatric diagnosis and symptom-monitoring with a focus on “digital biomarkers”: using pre-trained neural networks she identifies predicitive signals by automatically extracting information such as facial expressions, voice pitch and speech content from video recordings.
